THE MAMAS & THE PAPAS - CALIFORNIA DREAMING
In tribute to The Mamas & The Papas
and inspired by the inimitable style of the era, California Dreaming evokes images of the Summer of Love - anti-war, anti establishment, flower power and free love.
The West Coast district of Haight Ashbury in San Francisco attracted like minded people from all over who rejected the conformist and materialistic values of the times.
The Mamas & The Papas consisted of Michelle Phillips, John Phillips, Mama Cass Elliot and Denny Doherty whose colective style this board is based upon - think paisley, daisies, kaftans, crochet mixed with a little psychedelia!
John Phillips wrote the song "San Francisco (Be Sure To Wear Flowers In Your Hair)" for his friend Scott McKenzie which promoted both the Monterey Pop festival in 1967 and popularized the flower children of San Francisco.
In the words of Timothy Leary "turn on, tune in, drop out"
